30 April 2003

There’s no need to wait to see the improvements to the 2004 Volvo range as details of a variety of quality and dynamic advances, new models, and even some price reductions, are available now. Full prices and specification details of the new, refined S80 have also been announced.

  • Leather upholstery standard across all S40 and V40 models (worth £940 on S models), while SE models gain electric driver’s seat
  • New charcoal-coloured finish for dashboard and controls, plus chrome rings around dials (as XC90) for S60, V70, S80 and XC70

There are also the following model-specific changes:

  • The S40 and V40 ranges are rationalised from 54 to 42 variants, and despite extra specification across the range, many prices are reduced – by up to £860 for the 2.0T Sport Lux (see Notes to Editors)
  • Leather upholstery is now standard on all models (worth up to £940 on S); while SE and Sport Lux models gain an electric driver’s seat. The 1.6 S is available without leather upholstery for £500 less, meaning S40 and V40 on the road prices now start from just £13,980 and £14,980 respectively
  • Sport and Sport Lux models now have white-coloured side markers, larger 17in alloy wheels and sports instrument dials. Sport models also benefit from leather upholstery (formerly a £500 upgrade)
  • New ‘Business Pack’ includes Sat Nav (plus cruise control and electric driver’s seat) available for £1,100 (Sat Nav was formerly a £1,200 option)
