Volvo 850 and 70 Series Cutting Out

Sometimes the engines of these cars can cut out when slowing down or stopping. This is because the butterfly valve in the throttle housing is pre-set in the factory to a very small gap and with time and mileage a build up of oil and carbon will reduce this gap. This causes incorrect information to be sent to the engine management system causing the engine to cut out. The throttle housing needs to be cleaned regularly at services to prevent this.
